Turkey Taco Meat in a Crockpot

This is a very cheap recipe. If you are on a budget and wanna eat healthy this is for you. You can also use fresh Veggies but I use frozen because the fresh ones cost so much.

Frozen Onion $1
Frozen Bell peppers $1
Ground Turkey $1.50 ( I stocked up when it was BOGO at Kroger)

Buy making your own taco seasoning you control the ingredients you put in and its also much cheaper ! You don't have to spend $1 every time you need it to make taco. Just go buy seasoning at the Dollar Tree and make your own that last forever !

Turkey Taco Meat in a Crockpot ….

½ Pound Extra Lean Ground Turkey
½ Cup Chopped Onion
½ Cup Chopped Green bell peppers
½ Cup Salsa
1 Tablespoons of Homemade Taco Seasoning

Directions

Put in Crockpot for 4 -5 Hours on Low or you can also adjust the time to make it on high.
You can also make this in a pan on the stove top. I just like doing everything in my crockpot ! I put it there and forget it !

You can make this recipe big enough for any serving size. I only have to feed 2 people so I always make my recipes VERY small because I have a picky eater who will not eat leftovers and I don't want waste.

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Ingredients:
  • 2 Tbsp chile powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground pepper

Directions:
Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl and mix well to combine. Store in a glass bottle (preferred) or any air tight container. Label the container and write the name and date.
As a rule of thumb, use 2 to 3 Tbsp. per 1 lb of meat. If you are making tacos, remember to add about 1/2 cup of water when you add the taco meat seasoning to the meat. Just simmer until most of the liquid has cooked out.
